Subah savere Zainab ne apni dadi ko phone kiya. Woh Canada se bol rahi thi.
Early in the morning, Zainab called her grandmother. She was speaking from Canada.
Dadi ne phone uthaaya aur bolin, "Eid Mubarak, meri bachi!"
Grandmother picked up and said, "Eid Mubarak, my child!"
💡 "Bolin" (not boli or bola) is the honorific plural for an elder female. "Bachi" (-i ending) tells you the child being addressed is female. "Eid Mubarak" is said only during the days of Eid - not as a general greeting.
Zainab ne kaha, "Aap ko bhi Eid Mubarak, dadi. Yahan sab aap ko yaad kar rahe hain."
Zainab said, "Eid Mubarak to you too, grandma. Everyone here is missing you."
Dadi ki aankhein nam ho gayin. "Allah tumhein khush rakhe, beti. Agle saal zaroor aana."
Grandmother's eyes welled up. "May Allah keep you happy, dear. Be sure to come next year."
