How it works
Never stands alone - it ALWAYS comes after another consonant to add a "puff of air". So bhai = b + breath (not "bee-hai"). Compare ghar (gh + breath, not "g-har") and chai (ch + breath). This is "aspiration" - the difference between English "p" in "spin" (no aspiration) and "pin" (aspirated).
